Fall Fun

Autumn is my favorite time of year!  There are so many wonderful, healthy activities you can do in the fall.

Hike at Blue Hills or on any of the hundreds of nature paths in your area.  If you can’t think of any, go to this website as plug in your town.  The site will share many wonderful walking paths in your vicinity:

Take advantage of the many bike paths I mentioned in a number of my blogs in the past.  Fall is really my favorite time to do this.

East Bay Bike Path-     http://www.dot.ri.gov/bikeri/east_bay_bike_path.asp

Blackstone Valley Bikeway-     http://www.cycleblackstone.com/about.htm

Minuteman Bikeway- http://www.minutemanbikeway.org/Media/MinutemanBikewayBrochure2.

Halloween celebration:  Trick or treating with kids & grandkids-It’s great exercise!  Just don’t drink the night away too!  Water is fine.  Always remember- “Don’t drink your calories!”

Visit a farm.  Walk to the pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin way out in the field.  Climb the haystack with your kids.  Buy some fresh fruits and vegetables and research some healthy recipes.

I was researching on line and I found this great website of a woman who got a lap band in 2009.  She was very successful and has since lost close to 120 lbs. She noted all her favorite lap band friendly recipe websites and I thought I would share them with you.  If you are interested in her site it is called lapbandgalsjourney.blogspot.com  She’s a great inspiration to us all!

One of my favorite activities is cooking.  I especially love cooking in the fall and doing my best to adjust recipes and make some of the fall favorites as healthy as possible.  See below for many great recipe ideas that I will try myself.  I hope you all enjoy autumn and take the time to appreciate the outdoors and take care of yourself by preparing some healthy foods too.  Just try a recipe and you’ll be surprised that cooking is a lot easier than it appears to be.  Enjoy!  Contact me anytime at janesylvestre@massweightloss.com  Jane
