Clinical Staff

Jane Sylvestre, RD, Nutritionist

Jane, a Registered Dietitian, serves as our team's Nutrition Specialist. Jane came to us with many years of experience as a dietitian in hospital settings, both at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island and most recently at Norwood Hospital. Jane has facilitated both adolescent and adult weight control programs, and has counseled bariatric surgery patients both pre-operatively and post-operatively. Jane is an active member of a cooking club, and brings her culinary skills to healthy-food cooking demonstrations at our support group meetings. Running is Jane's favorite past time. She also enjoys biking and skiing with her husband and two children.

Jen Larrabee, RNC, BSN

Jen brings a wealth of nursing and patient care experience to Surgical Weight Loss Specialists. Jen graduated from the diploma program at Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing in 1992 and received her BSN from Rhode Island College in 2006. She began her career at Norwood Hospital and has been there since. Jen's mother has also worked as at nurse Norwood for over 40 years. Over the years Jen has served in many capacities on Unit 23, the hospital's surgical unit and the home of all post-operative LapBand patients. She is the Clinical Leader, the Pain Resource Nurse, and a key member of the Patient Care System Implementation Team which coordinates the Hospital's computerized Nursing Documentation and Care System. Jen has a strong interest in weight loss and women's health issues. In her free time, Jen is an avid fitness buff, but most of all loves spending time with husband Mike and adorable son Brandon age 14 months. Jen's office hours are Fridays from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm

Julie Cedrone, MSN, FNP-BC

With over thirteen years experience as a Nurse Practitioner, Julie has joined our practice after working as part of Caritas Medical Group at Foxboro. During her extensive career Julie has practiced both independently and in collaboration with family physicians and internists in a number of large multi-specialty health centers. Julie holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Biology and Nursing from Curry College and Regis College. She also has a Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College. In addition to her clinical experience, Julie currently serves as a Graduate Clinical Instructor and Faculty member at Boston College's School of Nursing. Julie enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and extended family. She also looks forward to relaxing at the shore during the summer months.

Kittredge White, PA-C

Kittredge graduated from the Weill Cornell Medical College physician assistant program in NYC in 2006. Prior to joining SWLS in May 2010, she ran a bariatric outpatient clinic at the Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain. She has had extensive experience in general surgery, as well as orthopedics, emergency medicine, and urgent care. Kittredge feels she has "found her niche" in bariatric surgery, and enjoys very much helping patients achieve their weight loss goals and finding greater health and happiness. Prior to becoming a PA, Kittredge had a career as a freelance television journalist and produced scientific/medical news and documentary pieces, primarily for public television. Her husband Roger teaches at MIT, and they have one fabulous daughter, Sydney. Kittredge enjoys spending time with her family, riding her horse "Andy", gardening, and singing. She sees patients at SWLS on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Gene Newman, Ph.D

Gene our team psychologist, has been performing the psychological evaluations for our Lap-Band candidates since we began the program. Gene has been on staff at Norwood Hospital in the Department of Medicine since 1988, following his position on the staff of Mass General Hospital. Having seen almost six hundred patients who are having weight loss surgery, Gene is very familiar with the changes that can occur in a person’s life as a result of weight loss, as well as the issues that can get in the way of reaching personal goals. Gene maintains a private practice and now spends two days a week in our office. Although born in the Bronx, Gene roots for the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.

Office Staff

Jayne Smith, Surgical Coordinator

Jayne has been an important part of our practice for ten years. She coordinates the care of all of our weight loss surgery patients and is happy to assist with scheduling appointments, obtaining referrals and working with insurers. Jayne is a valuable resource for patients and their families as they navigate the healthcare system. Jayne enjoys spending time boating around Cape Cod with her family.

Kathy Patterson, Medical Assistant

Kathy has been caring for patients in our practice for ten years. Kathy conducts initial intake of our patients and provides clinical support to our surgeons and patients. Our patients love chatting with Kathy who always has a good story to tell. Kathy’s favorite pastime is travelling to car shows around the country and caring for her many pets.

Carol Caruso, Transcriptionist & Office Assistant

Carol joined our practice over ten years ago. Carol handles all transcriptions and coordinates our billing. She is happy to assist patients in registering for seminars and scheduling appointments as well. Carol enjoys spending time with her 3 grandchildren, as well as ballroom dancing.

Patty Patterson, Office Assistant

Patty joined us recently after several years working for an architectural firm in Boston. Knowing how much her mother Kathy enjoys working in our practice inspired Patty to do the same. Patty is now assisting with everything from scheduling to data input. She brings a wealth of computer knowledge and logistical expertise to our practice. Patty is an avid Red Sox fan.

Jordana Glasgow, JD, Business Development

Keeping with the theme of a family business, Adam’s wife Jordana recently joined our practice to assist with business development. After working as a litigation attorney at a Boston law firm for 17 years, Jordana is enjoying her new career change. Jordana is managing many aspects of our business, including our website, patient newsletter and special projects. She is always open to hearing new ideas from our patients. Jordana enjoys antiquing and spending time in Maine with Adam and their two sons.
