I took the first step on this path to a healthier and happier lifestyle a little over a year ago. I was over 200 pounds, had severe sleep apnea, had developed a limp because of the weight I was carrying on my knees, and was LITERALLY and FIGURATIVELY tired of being overweight.

A year later, I can honestly say that I am the healthiest and happiest version of myself that I have ever been. I box three times a week, enjoy long walks with my dogs, and love finding and cooking healthy recipes for my family. I no longer have sleep apnea - I don't even snore. I have lost over 100 pounds, and I no longer limp when I walk.

My journey has not always been easy, but I am so glad I decided to take this path.

Well, it's been 9 months since I had my first visit with Adam. It was at this meeting that I finally accepted the gift that God has been trying to deliver for almost 30 years. No, it's not that he didn't have my address but "no one was home." The gift I received was "the gift of desperation." I weighed in at 329 on May 5th 2016. My surgery was July 26th. I lost 45 on my own during this period of time. As of February 1st 2017, I weigh 218.

Happy as a clam. Never going back. No flour and sugar-- I eat 3 meals a day with a few healthy snacks. I have a little more to lose but am in no rush. I'm at the gym 5/6 times a week-- that has helped.

I'd lost weight on just about every program you can name, starting in my young teens. I was pretty good at losing weight, but it was the same pounds over and over as I'd slowly gain them back. I consoled myself that even though I was overweight (technically it was classified as morbidly obese), I was pretty active and healthy...until that just wasn't true anymore. My blood pressure and blood sugar both had been steadily rising over the last few years, and I was seeing an orthopedist for knee trouble, even discussing knee replacement. I'm only 57! I was a little irritated at my primary care physician for asking at my last annual physical if I'd considered weight loss surgery, because she knew I could lose weight when I tried, but after doing some research I asked her to refer me to a surgeon to discuss what I thought would be the best option for me, a sleeve gastrectomy. Meeting Dr. Glasgow, the caring office staff, and the warm and supportive group at Surgical Weight Loss Specialists reassured me I'd found the right place. I've lost over 60 lbs since my surgery September 13, 2016, my knees don't hurt anymore, and as of last week I'm off all medications for health issues related to obesity! I'm enjoying exercise, feel so good from my new way of eating, and look forward to reaching and maintaining my goal weight. I'm a work in progress. The surgery is not a magic quick fix, but this tool is exactly what I needed for a healthier change for the future.

The Picture below. Because it dates back to 2009. At that point I was my heaviest at most likely 360lbs I don't remember the exact number. But today I am 173lbs. Anything is possible if you want it bad enough!
